Job Announcement for Housekeeping Manager
Location – Vermejo Park Ranch, Colfax County, New Mexico

Housekeeping Manager: Manage the housekeeping department for Vermejo Park Ranch Guest Operations.  Coordinate the ordering of supplies, staffing, scheduling and cleaning of 60 guest rooms and all public areas.

Job Duties:

  • Perform general duties as they relate to the cleanliness of guest housing and lodge grounds.
  • Work closely with other department managers to anticipate guest needs as they relate to guest rooms and public areas.
  • Schedule the cleaning of 60 guest rooms and all guest public areas.
  • Order and maintain guest room supplies.
  • Interview, hire, motivate and manage a team of 4-6 employees.
  • Coordinate the laundering of guest linen.
  • Coordinate the timely return of all guest lost and found items to the front desk.
  • Attend weekly meeting with department managers to plan for upcoming events.
  • Travel occasionally to our high country lodge (Costilla and #2 Camp) to assist with the opening and closing of the lodge.
  • Participate as winter staff member in Costilla Winter Program.

Candidate must demonstrate the ability to coordinate multiple projects with multiple employees to complete a common goal.  Must exhibit quality work ethic, be goal-oriented, and a self-starter with the ability to function as a team player.  Candidate should exhibit sound and accurate judgment; use time efficiently; demonstrate attention to detail and high standards for cleanliness.  Candidate must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment.  The individual must consistently be at work and on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction, and commit to long hours when necessary to meet goals, work with minimal supervision, act independently in the absence of a supervisor; exercise discretion, tact and diplomacy, and maintain confidentiality.

Education/Experience:
Previous commercial hospitality experience required. General office and computer experience a plus. Solid verifiable work history required.

Reasoning Ability:
Candidate must have the ability to solve practical problems, and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment:
Vermejo Park Ranch is located in remote North Eastern New Mexico (40 miles west of Raton).  Work environment is a heated, well-lighted office and buildings.  

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds

Other:
This is a full-time, non-exempt, benefits eligible position with company housing provided.  Work schedule will include most weekends.  Employee will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. The individual must also possess a valid New Mexico driver's license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.  Driving record must meet the standards of the New Mexico Department of Motor Vehicles and the eligibility requirements of the TEI insurance carrier.  Employee will be required to submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
